UBUNTU BETA R2 — RELEASE CANDIDATE — OCTOBER 2, 2026

Includes the startup secure-storage repair tested under intercomtest (Ghost 21).
Temporary storage input now exactly matches the value checked. Backend startup
requires successful store, exact retrieval, clear and absence verification.
All secure-storage subprocess calls have bounded timeouts.

Sidetone controls removed. Reviewed Rust source initializes sidetone to zero;
no other reviewed caller enables it except the removed desktop control.
Frozen executable, ringtone, Rust calling and audio source are unchanged.

Installer checks secret-tool and timeout in addition to existing dependencies,
runs the same secure-storage check before application replacement, rejects root
installation and updating a running installed client, and retains the old app.
The documented command is sh install.sh, so extraction execute bits are not required.

Verified before this package: Ghost 21 startup and secure storage check passed;
Ghost-to-Windows invitation accepted; Windows-to-Ghost incoming ringing, answer
stopping ringing, and clear two-way speech confirmed by the owner.

This R2 package itself still requires installation and restart/call acceptance.
Logout/reboot persistence and no-terminal fresh-customer installation are not
established. The earlier Windows-to-Ghost pair_self error remains unexplained;
the reverse-direction invitation successfully paired the installations.
